Dubai Adjusts School Friday Dismissal Times to Align with New Prayer Schedule

Starting Friday, January 9, 2026, all private and government schools in Dubai will end classes by 11:30 AM on Fridays, a change announced by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). This adjustment aligns the school week with the UAE's updated national Friday prayer timings, providing students and staff time to prepare for congregational worship.

What's Changing

• Dismissal Time: All private schools and early childhood centers must ensure lessons conclude no later than 11:30 AM every Friday.
• Week Structure: Monday to Thursday schedules remain unchanged.
• Reason for Change: The General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat set the new Friday sermon and prayer time to begin at 12:45 PM starting January 2, 2026. The earlier dismissal allows adequate travel and preparation time.
